Adventure That Started Many Years Ago is Now Beginning Again

Today I am writing my Slice of Life Story Challenge and linking up with Holly's Spiritual Journey Thursday. At Holly's blog we are writing about the different One Little Words that each of us has chosen. Today we are writing about ADVENTURE which is Libby's OLW.

I have been on many adventures in my life.

There was the first adventure when I was 16 and left to go overseas for one month without my parents. Or the other time when I went to work in a nearby country for three moths without knowing anyone there. Both times I had a place to stay and a plan of what to do. Nevertheless, both of those trips were an adventure.

I did not have Internet or cell phones to keep me connected to the people at home. During the first trip I think I was able to call my m other one time. I had to find a way to rely on the One who never leaves nor forsakes me! I had to make new friends, find connections, and get along with people who did not all think the way I did.

Both of those adventures overseas solidified my trust in God. I had to seek Him. I had to trust Him. I had to rely on Him. I had find what He had in store for me. And then I had to follow that path that He was leading me on.

This path then led me onto many other adventures around the world. And now, I am watching this same journey beginning for my daughter. She is living overseas (so thankful that she has Internet and cellphones). Learning to trust God. Relying on Him. Seeking Him. Her adventure is just beginning! As a mother, I am learning to trust God in a new way. As my daughter is eager for her adventure, I am learning (still in the learning phase) to trust God to be with her on her adventure in the same way that I am sure my mother had to learn to trust God at the beginning of my adventure.

  6. I remember that when I was flying to study abroad in Spain in college, that was the deepest feeling of faith I've ever had, Jaana. It takes so much courage to leave everything you know behind... and what an incredible experience it is!

  7. Love this summing up of lessons learned from your journeys: "I had to seek Him. I had to trust Him. I had to rely on Him. I had find what He had in store for me. And then I had to follow that path that He was leading me on." It fits for always.

  10. It is definitely a different ball game when it's your children going on an adventure than when it was you, isn't it?! So hard not to worry! But He's got them in His hands. You must be so proud that your daughter is learning to trust Him! I love both those images and quotes!

  12. I remember my first trip as a teenager to another city in the US as part of a housing ministry to repair old homes. I couldn't call my parents either, no cell or Internet in the 1980s. My daughter went on her first major retreat trip this fall. She had a cell phone, facebook, email, and text. I kept in touch with her all day! What a difference technology makes. Technology and the ability to meet others virtually and form community just adds to our adventures. Thanks for sharing.
