First Celebration of 2014

I am so excited to begin the new year with celebration! So much to celebrate and be thankful for!

One.
Being able to Skype with my daughter who is overseas!
I was able to see her smile, see her making faces, and hear her laugh! Could I ask for more?

Two.
Just relaxing. Reading for fun. Reading blogs and writing some as well. Watching the snow fall down and cover the trees in a beautiful cloud.

Three.
Finding my One Little Word for 2014. (More to come in a few days....) Getting my creative spirit flowing after seeing many wonderful examples of visual representations on people's OLW (including Ruth's).

Four.
Chatting with friends overseas as I was actually home when it is still daytime for them; well maybe evening there. (Yes, Tatjana, Tuija and Riikka I mean you!)

Five.
Snow! I love snow! It makes everything so much brighter! Yes, I know I didn't really ask for these sub zero temperatures, but maybe we will get a "sub zero snow day" this coming week? Sunshine glittering on the fresh snow--definitely God's gift for mankind!

Six.
There are so many wonderful people who are doing great things! Today I want to celebrate everyone who has an encouraging word for another person. (That includes all of you who spend time reading my blog and many others while writing careful comments!)

What are you celebrating today?

How great that you were able to connect with your daughter! This break has been full of much needed reading, resting and writing for me too! I celebrate you, always writing thoughtful comments as well! ;)

  2. Amy, I think we all needed this rest! Let's see if we get an extra day added to our holiday.

  3. Well, I just heard from you, Jaana, so you know that I'm celebrating connecting & the little stuff this week! I've been cleaning & organizing, not touching base with friends like you, which is awesome! So glad you were able to talk to your daughter! Hope your very cold week holds some good 'warm' things!

    1. I think I need to get away from my computer for a while and get a few things don, but it is also so much fun relaxing! I promise to celebrate snow even when we get 10 inches! It will look so beautiful!

  4. Learning to Skype is something I want to learn how to do this year? Can't wait to read what your OLW is. I love all the stories behind them. Looks like we might have a snow day or two or three this week also. I really am ready to go back. Have a great week.

    1. Leigh Anne, Skyping is fun! If I thought younger students in a class, I would want to Skype with an author like Kate Messner! Happy snowing!

  5. You sound rejuvenated and ready to tackle this new year. Is there anything sweeter than listening to your child laugh? I know I will be waking to a snowy world tomorrow, so I will think of you.

  7. I love snow, too!! Isn't Skype miraculous? It never ceases to amaze me that we can connect to people all over the world instantly and for free. Sounds like you had some great R&R. Can't wait to hear about your OLW!

    1. Thank Holly! Trees are going to look beautiful with falling snow that is heavy enough to stick to them!

  8. Remember when you were overseas for the first time - no Skype then. From a young person's perspective it didn't matter so much, but I wonder how parents felt waiting for a letter for weeks.
Looking forward to reading about your OWL.

    1. I remember those days. It definitely was much harder for my mother. Don't know what I would do without phones and internet these days?

  9. Your comment about Skypping with your daughter brought back pleasant memories of our daughter's study abroad in Chile. I loved getting almost daily calls from her on our Skype phone. It rang differently, so I would run though the house chanting "It's Skypper Girl" when she called! Technology does allow us to connect in so many new ways. We have loved enjoyed Facetime visits and family crossword puzzle times together this season.

  11. Isn't Skype a wonderful thing? Our daughter was in Turkey last year as an exchange student. Just being able to see her made me feel so much better. My break was similar to yours..time to read, write, and relax. It's been wonderful. Good luck on those snow days...I'm hoping for one tomorrow. :)

  12. I agree! Snow is beautiful. It makes me smile - at least when I am comfy inside watching it out the window. :)
