I recently had a birthday. Not a special birthday, just an ordinary birthday. Birthday, a time to count my blessings.
I am so blessed to have friends and family who know and understand me.
Val, gave me hand lotion as she knows that I am always complaining about dry hands. In addition, she also gave me a relaxation mask. She said it is for those times when testing is too stressful and I need to take a little time just for me.
Two friends took me to my favorite Syrian restaurant. The food is so good. And as a bonus, I get to see my old students who work there. Linda also gave me a Shakespeare birthday card (that is what we are reading with my high school students right now). And Kathy gave the funny one that we chuckled (or internally jogged as I learned to say from a fellow blogger the other day) over for a long time.
My sister-in-law gave me flowers! I love fresh flowers--especially in the middle of winter. Then there were the cards and e-mails from my students. Some sweet and some funny.
Faith, my friend with MS, had painted a cross for me with her art therapist. I got her gifts when we had lunch and coffee together.
Then there were the phone calls from overseas and cards in the mail. I really felt special. And of course, I loved reading the little comments and messages on Facebook as well. I felt treasured and blessed!
Lovely post, Janna. Birthdays really are a great time to count blessings and what wonderful friends you have!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Janna! I've just celebrated another birthday recently myself. I really believe, with each passing year, I've grown more and more grateful for the most important things in life myself!
ReplyDeleteSo rich, aren't we?
Perfect gifts. I am moving away from BIG celebrations. Just a lovely dinner with my love is more than enough.
