Snow, Heavy enough to Decorate my Trees

This past Wednesday I had a snow day! Some of my friends--especially my Finnish ones--are puzzled how we could have a snow day with just a few inches of snow. I don't know, but I am not complaining!

This was the scenery that greeted me on my birthday! Yes, I had an extra day off in honor of my birthday! It was so beautiful!

Well, that was until I tried shoveling the snow!! I can't even remember the last time that heavy snow. Thank goodness someone else takes care of my driveway.
I was also one of the lucky ones whose tree branches did not snap and fall on the wires or power lines. So many people around me lost their electricity.

Perhaps I will have to go and investigate how my shrubs have survived.
But I also had the joy of seeing snowmen pop up in the neighborhood, and heard the stories next day at school. I could hear the joy and excitement in the children's voices as they talked about building the biggest snowman ever!

Snow days, they are a good thing!

  1. Oh yes, snow days are a good thing! We had the snow the day before you and my pictures look very similar. I love your words, snow decorated my trees. It so did! Fortunately we were able to use a snow blower to remove that heavy snow from our drive. I love the line of the snow on the tree branches, especially those that are curved. Happy Birthday, belated!

  4. Winters would be sad without snow and snowmen. If only the branches would hold and electricity wouldn't go. I think people should be entitled to get a day off on their birthday.

  7. How fun is that?! We don't get nearly enough snow in Central Florida. : ) What a treat for your birthday, that extra day. I hope the celebration continues!

  9. These could literally be photos from my backyard this past Wednesday as well, must have been the same storm. That was some of the heaviest snow and I must admit I did not shovel much of it. Now it has become a bumpy, icy mess.

  11. Love snow days when I don't have to venture out in a car. We were supposed to get a storm on Thursday where I live and my son was hyped for a snow day. Didn't happen. I told him it was his fault because he didn't wear his pajamas backwards, put a spoon under his pillow, and put ice in the toilet. Happy Birthday!
